Speaking activity - #TESL0120

Two of the tasks presented in the Communicative Language Teaching are Interacting With Others and Sharing Information.  I think this Speaking Activity can address both of those tasks.

Interacting at the doctors office.

Have students in pairs and role play the interaction between a doctor and a patient, taking turns being each of the roles.

The role play template is given out to the students for each role and are used to formulate proper questions.  The cards are used to fill in the blanks.

        *  Illness/problem cards - to be given to the student playing the patient that include  an ailment, one or more symptoms, and a duration

        *  Doctor Card - to be given to the student playing the doctor which includes a prescription, a prescription, extra advice and a plan

Vocabulary can be discussed before the class begins for the beginner classes.

After the students finish their given cards, the doctors move to the next patient (right or eft around the room)  This can continue until the desired activity length is achieved.

Also, role play can be performed in from of the class.

This is a late-beginner to intermediate activity as students are required to know some vocabulary to fill the blank in properly.
